An old open-end wrench with broken sponges will make a very useful tool for giving - a home-made delimber, with which you can cut branches of trees that are at a high height.

Using such a tool, you do not have to rush around the site with a stepladder or ladder. The length of the wooden handle of the delimbers can be made any - at your discretion. If desired, the handle can be made metal (for example, from a profile pipe).

The main stages of work

First, we cut off the broken lips of the wrench, then heat it with gas burners to a bright red color and give it the desired shape. In this case, the key must be bent a little in an arc and flattened. This work is best done on the anvil.

After you get a workpiece of a suitable shape, we drill holes in it for attachment to a wooden handle. We clean the metal surface with the grinding disc of the grinder. Using the same angle grinder, we form the blade descents on the key and perform rough grinding.

It is advisable to harden the cutting edge of the tool again: we heat the metal to a bright red color, and then lower it into a container with oil.

Next, cut the stalk or branch of suitable length and prepare the seat under the knife. We fasten the wrench to the bolts with nuts - for this you need to drill holes in the handle. The result was a simple, but quite convenient to use, delimbers.
