For those who traditionally weave baskets from vines, the author gives advice - in the manufacture of hoops do not use wire or rope, but use a PET tape.
After heat treatment with a hairdryer, it gives a good shrinkage and pulls together the hoop very well, and what’s important - after the wood has dried, there’s no need to bandage anything, just warm the ribbon again with a hairdryer. It is very convenient.
The main stages of work
First of all, it is necessary to connect a pair of wooden hoops to each other, making a so-called "castle" in the places of their contact. The lock is made of PET tape and plastic tubes.
After the "locks" are tied on one and the other side of the basket frame, the lower shells are installed. Moreover, they need to be installed in such a way that the basket has stability.
At the next stage, side shells are already installed - the result is a "skeleton" of the basket, ready for tying with a PET rope.
So that the edges of the frame do not differ much from PET ropes in color, the author painted them with a stain.
First, we braid the sides of the frame with PET rope, and the master braids the gap between them (that is, the central part) with a plastic tube.
