Cheap office chairs are not particularly durable construction. So after six months of operation, I had such an unpleasant annoyance as the armrest cracked. Cracked at the mount - it turned out to be the weakest link in the entire structure. It is naturally a pity to throw out a chair, all the more so to repair such a defect is not difficult and I will show how.

Will need

  • Two-component epoxy adhesive.
  • Thick wire 2 mm.

We repair the cracked arm of an office chair

Unscrew all the screws and remove the armrest.

If there is no thick wire at hand, you can use a clothes hanger, cutting it with wire cutters into pieces. Ordinary steel wire with a diameter of 2-3 mm.

We select a drill according to the diameter of the wire. You can take 0.1-0.2 mm more if there isn’t exactly that.

Let's drill four holes near the cracked place, see photo. No need to drill close to the mounting hole.

We bend the wire with the pliers along the distance between the holes.

The whole repair kit is ready:

Knead two-component adhesive in the proportions indicated in its instructions.

We initially miss the joint of the break.

Then insert the staples and bend them from the inside. Excess pieces of wire can be bitten off. We tighten the armrest with a rope to fix it securely while the glue dries.

We coat the staples with glue on all sides. This will give even more reliability and will not allow the node to deform further.

After the glue has hardened (about 24 hours in time), you can install the part in place and test the armrest.

On this simple repair is over. Its price is naturally cheaper than buying a new chair.
