A very necessary and convenient device is an electric kettle. At home, at work and wherever you are, with a power outlet, it will help you prepare an invigorating hot drink.
But no kettle can work forever, so the time comes when they break, which can be very upsetting. Sometimes there is no need to buy a new expensive device, it is enough to make a little effort and it is possible to eliminate the breakdown.
This article will consider one of the main breakdowns of an electric kettle and a way to eliminate it.

First you need to be patient and the tools depicted in the photo.

As practice shows, most often the heater or the power button of the device fails. Therefore, the search for damage will be directed precisely at these nodes.
So, we begin with disassembling the case. To do this, unscrew the fastening screws at the bottom of the kettle.

As you can see in the photo, we unscrew the three screws closer to the center, the outer holes, where the finger points, do not have screws, they are designed for ventilation.

We put the screws in one place so as not to lose, and remove the pallet. Here you will see a heater, an indicator lamp and wires going through the handle to the switch.

First, we check the integrity of the heater (heater) for an open. To do this, we connect a voltage indicator, or any other device for dialing with heater leads.

If the circuit shows, then it is intact and you can continue to search for damage further.
Now you need to get to the switch on the handle. To do this, remove the upper casing of the handle. This can be done by tucking a screwdriver at the junction of the two parts of the handle.

You can also hold the kettle vertically and tilt the pan down to remove the handle latch from the bottom slot.

Now pulling the casing with your hands, we release it from the latches.

When it is removed completely, you will see two wires matching the power button.

Unscrew the screw securing the button and remove it.

Here you see a bimetallic plate responsible for turning off the kettle during boiling. You don’t need to touch her.

Next, disconnect the wires from the button so that they do not bother you. The connection is made on the connectors, so it is not difficult to disconnect them by pulling on yourself.

Now we look at the contacts of the button and it is clear that they are pretty burnt out.

This makes contact difficult and therefore the operation of the kettle itself. To make it convenient to work with contacts, you can remove the top of the button.

Using a knife or thin file - we clean the upper and lower contacts. This must be done carefully so as not to bend or break one of them. This is especially true for the lower one, since it has a springy structure that cannot be broken.

When grinding is done, use a pair of pliers to press the upper fixed contact slightly. Be careful not to bend it too much. Otherwise, it will not open. The offset should be about 1mm.

This is done, now we’ll clean the terminals on the button.

Also, for better contact, slightly bend the connectors on the wires with pliers.
The result of the button is checked by a call. In the on state, there must be a confident contact, and in the off state, its absence.

We put the button back, and clamp the fastening screw.

We connect the wires and close the handle casing.

You need to do this from top to bottom.

Next, we do everything the same as when disassembling, but in the reverse order.

We put the kettle on a stand and turn it on.

You can see how the water begins to boil and the kettle itself turned off.

We can assume that the repair was successful, and the device will last a long time.
That is all, successful repairs to you.
