Now almost all tenants of apartment buildings are replacing old cast-iron sewer pipes with plastic ones. There is nothing wrong with this, however, plastic pipes have one significant drawback.
Unlike cast-iron pipes, they are not able to absorb the noise that is generated when wastewater moves from the upper floors. However, this problem can be solved if you make the soundproofing of the sewer riser in the apartment.
This will require automotive vibration isolation, which can be inexpensively bought at any car market or, for example, in a store selling auto parts.
The main stages of work
Before gluing the automobile vibration isolation to the riser in the bathroom, the plastic pipe must be degreased. Next, for convenience, you need to cut the vibration isolation into separate pieces.
After that, the author glues vibration strips onto the degreased surface of the plastic sewer pipe. Then the glued strips need to be heated with a hairdryer and pressed them tightly to the pipe.
Thus, with the minimum amount of time and money spent, it is possible to achieve the maximum effect in noise insulation of a conventional sewer plastic pipe.
