If there is no suitable size clamp on hand to secure the water hose or fuel pump, then in this situation you will be helped out by a simple home-made device - a ratchet clamp. With it, you can make clamps of wire of different diameters, without making much effort. This is much more convenient than twisting the clamps with pliers.
For the manufacture of this device you will need only simple and affordable materials that can be easily found in the home workshop or workshop. As the basis of the clamp, we will use a small segment of a square profile pipe with side dimensions of 15x15 mm. It is also necessary to prepare two nuts, a spring and make a gear with oblique teeth on a lathe.
Clamping Process
First of all, we make the basis of homemade work - we cut one of the sides of the square profile at an angle of 45 degrees. On the opposite side of the "body" of the collar we cut out the "ears" in which we drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm. We make a handle from a steel bar, on one side of which we cut a longitudinal cut.
On a lathe we grind a steel washer, on which we cut oblique teeth with a grinder. The resulting gear is welded to the handle. Then, by welding, we attach two nuts to a profile pipe at a certain distance from each other. Between them we insert a spring into which we stick a bar with a one-sided tooth at the end - we fix it with a wire through the hole.
