The folding convertible bed has obvious advantages over the classic "stationary" furniture for the home.

It is compact in size, making it possible to rationally use the living space in the room, as well as functionality and versatility in use.

Such furniture will harmoniously fit into the interior of a small room, decorated in a minimalist style, and therefore is ideal for a country house.

In this review, the author shows how to make a practical and comfortable convertible bed for a do-it-yourself cottage. If you have the necessary tools, this is not difficult.

Design features

When folded, the transforming bed can be used as a bench or sofa, if you put soft pillows on top.

When unfolded - this is an ordinary bed, which is no different from classic beds.

The author uses an air mattress as a mattress, which can be stored inside the bed, which is very convenient.

The main material for making a transforming bed is plywood. For cutting plywood, you need a circular saw or a hand circular (you can also use a jigsaw).

The main stages of work

First of all, the author dissolves plywood on sheets of the right size. Of these, it will be necessary to assemble a rectangular box. Then the author cuts the box lengthwise into two identical parts using a manual circular.

The next step is to make folding czars. To do this, the author connects two pieces of plywood using loops. In total, three tsars will be needed: two are set on the sides, the third in the middle.

We fasten the two side drawers to the bed frame. The third king is installed when the bed is unfolded, and serves as additional support.

Wooden lamellas, which serve as a support for the mattress, the author connects with two straps. Thus, the base can easily be removed when you need to fold the bed. These lamellas are also stored inside the frame.

After that, the author fastens the upper part of the frame (cover), installs the support posts and makes a backrest, which also serves as the head of the bed.

The final touch is polishing and coating the surface of plywood with varnish on wood. Instead of varnish, you can use mineral oil or a combination of stain with varnish. You can simply paint the frame in your favorite color.
