In this review, the author shows how to make a mini machine for trimming saddles at the ends of round and shaped pipes.
The design itself is uncomplicated, so such a machine can be made without any problems by hand. The main thing is to find the required amount of material.
Using a homemade mini machine simplifies the preparation of round pipes for their further connection at the required angle (from 0 to 90 degrees).
The fixture can be installed on the desktop, as well as fixed on other horizontal surfaces in the garage and home workshop.
The main stages of work
First of all, metal with a thickness of at least 12-14 mm will need to cut two parts of the same shape, but different in length.
Both parts are interconnected using a bolt. The author attaches housing bearings to one of the blanks, into which the shaft will then be inserted.
On a lathe, the author grinds the shaft. At one end of the shaft, a shank for the drill chuck, at the other - a thread on which a metal crown is wound.
Two persistent jaws will need to be welded to the second workpiece (plate), to which the pipe will be pressed. Further, the author makes a clip for the pipe itself.
