The exhaust system has long been turned into a familiar and necessary attribute in almost every kitchen. It creates a comfortable environment by purifying air contaminated with dust, fats, combustion products, fumes and odors during cooking. But she herself requires regular and thorough maintenance and care, otherwise this useful device will not be easy to cope with its functions.

The more regular and efficient the hood is, the faster and more powerful its filters get clogged. Over time, the gratings become so overgrown with all kinds of deposits that their purge becomes minimal and the efficiency of the cleaning apparatus decreases sharply. But even more dangerous, excessive body fat can cause a fire.

To remove such hardened plaque using only mechanical means (brushes, sponges) and ordinary detergents (soap, dishwashing detergent, etc.) is quite difficult, and sometimes impossible.
Here you can not do without more radical methods of exposure and effective drugs with active-aggressive characteristics.

Necessary facilities and equipment

We need a saucepan equal in height to at least half the length of the grate, if it is filled to the brim with water.
You will also need an unnecessary toothbrush. Gloves must be worn on hands so as not to burn fingers. From cleaning products it is necessary to prepare ordinary baking soda and 9 percent vinegar. Now you can start the procedure for cleaning the kitchen hoods.

An easy way to clean the exhaust grill

First, remove the grilles from the hood in the manner specified in the instructions for its operation.
Pour water into the pot we have chosen almost to the brim, put it on the fire and wait for the liquid to boil.

Add a small amount of vinegar to the pan, about 150-200 ml. The larger the volume of the dishes, the more you need to mix this product.

After that, add about one tablespoon of ordinary baking soda to the pan in small portions, since this substance reacts violently with boiling water.

Dip the grease-covered lattices into the pan and keep them in boiling water for 15-30 minutes.

As a result of thermal exposure and added preparations, the fat deposits partially dissolve, and, very importantly, the adhesion between the grating material and the resulting coating is weakened.

We take out the grates and rinse abundantly under running water in the sink.

We make sure visually and with a brush that the plaque has almost disappeared, and its remnants are easily removed by mechanical action, even with a toothbrush.

We lower the gratings on the other side and repeat the process.

After that, it remains to rinse them abundantly under a powerful stream of water, first warm and then cold, wipe, dry and put in place. The hood is ready for further efficient operation.

Tips & Tricks

So that cleaning the kitchen hood grids does not turn into a problem, experienced housewives recommend cleaning them once in 2-3 months depending on the intensity of use.
Moreover, the more often frying is used, as the process of cooking, the shorter the intervals between cleanings of these elements of the kitchen hood should be.
Also used as cleaning agents: laundry soap, a variety of detergents, fatty solvents, bleach, lemon juice, detergent for cleaning sewer pipes such as “Mole”, etc.
And the last thing to keep in mind when cleaning the cooker hoods. The more aggressive the product we use, the longer and more plentiful the rinsing of the racks should be, so that not even their traces remain on them. Otherwise, you can not only spoil the appearance, but also destroy the material of the gratings.
