Great life hack for hams and more. Those who had to solder oxidized copper wires. Also, this cleaning method can be useful to motorists. The main advantages: the method is fast, not expensive, available to absolutely everyone.
Usually, in order to tin wire it is cleaned either mechanically by scraping with a knife, or thermal - heating in an open flame. These methods are not always effective and all the more convenient, say, for multicore wires, none is normal.
A chemical method for cleaning copper and its alloys from natural oxide during long-term storage is well suited here.
Will need
Well, there is nothing to indicate the exact proportions, everything mixes up by eye:
- Vinegar.
- Baking soda.
- Water.
- Edible salt.
All components can easily be found in any kitchen, even the worst cook.
You will also need utensils for mixing. I took two test tubes, you can use any dishes, glass or ceramic. In the end, plastic disposable cups will do.
In one test tube imposes half a teaspoon of soda, in the other - salt.
We clean the copper wires from the oxide chemically
The whole process will take place in two stages: the first is etching in acid, and the second is neutralization.
Pour vinegar into a test tube with salt. And in a test tube with soda - water. Mix everything well. Well, as much as possible, since neither soda nor salt is completely dissolved.
Now lower the bare wire into vinegar with salt and wait.
It is advisable to stir the wire with salt in a test tube.
The reaction time is from 30 seconds to about 2 minutes. It all depends on the pollution. It may take 10 or even 20 minutes.
After the wire has been cleaned, we neutralize the effect of acid by lowering the veins into a test tube with a solution of soda for a couple of seconds.
Then the wire can be dried. The result is excellent. Copper glistens in bright pink.
The advantages of the method are obvious - an almost instant result without unnecessary actions.
